Privacy Policy

Overview

X Bulk Muter ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users mute or block multiple X/Twitter accounts from a pasted list of @handles. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension does and does not collect.

Data Collection

Specifically, the Extension:

• Does not collect personally identifiable information (PII)
• Does not collect browsing history or web activity
• Does not collect authentication tokens, cookies, or session data
• Does not transmit any data to external servers, APIs, or third parties
• Does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry of any kind
• Does not store the list of @handles you paste — it is held in memory only during the active session and discarded when the popup closes

How the Extension Works

The Extension operates entirely within your local browser. When you provide a list of @handles and click "Start Muting" (or "Start Blocking"), the Extension:

• Opens each X/Twitter profile page in a browser tab
• Injects a content script that interacts with the page's user interface to click the mute or block button
• Closes the tab and moves to the next handle

All actions use your existing, logged-in X/Twitter session within your browser. No data is sent to any server. No network requests are made to any domain other than x.com and twitter.com.

Permissions Justification

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each of which is necessary for its core functionality:

• activeTab — To interact with the currently active X/Twitter tab for detecting your logged-in username.
• scripting — To inject content scripts into X/Twitter profile pages that click the mute/block UI elements.
• tabs — To open new tabs for each @handle's profile page, monitor tab loading status, and close tabs after processing.
• storage — Reserved for future use (e.g., saving user preferences). Currently unused. No personal data is stored.
• Host permissions (x.com/*, twitter.com/*) — To inject content scripts only on X/Twitter pages. No other websites are accessed.

Third-Party Services

The Extension does not use any third-party services, SDKs, libraries, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. It contains no remote code execution.

Data Retention

The Extension does not retain any data. The list of @handles you paste exists only in the popup's runtime memory and is discarded when the popup is closed or the browser is restarted.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Limited Use Disclosure

The Extension's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
